Cemeteries are some of the most haunted places, and the Colonial Park Cemetery in Savannah is no exception.
During the Civil War, the Union’s General Sherman traveled across the state to try and terrify the Confederate citizens into surrendering. The soldiers stopped at the cemetery, altering the burial grounds as a twisted joke.
Some slept inside the burial vaults, others changed the headstones, and some even moved bodies around. They angered the disturbed souls who now haunt visitors.
The founder of the Girls Scouts, Juliette Gordon Low, was an innovative and progressive woman who left a legacy behind in Savannah. Yet, other signs of her linger in more unusual ways – like the ghost of Nelly Gordon, Juliette’s mother.
Mrs. Gordon allegedly died in the home, greeted by her formerly deceased husband, who walked her out. You may still see her presence there today.
